New puppies due mid-May, 2019.

We are expecting puppies this month that are a repeat breeding of last year’s litter.  The sire is our wonderful Koufax (Nizzana Better Than Yu) and the dam is the lovely Kerrie (Am/Isr Ch. Kerach Dak Me Shaar Hagai).  Both parents have been tested for DM (degenerative myelopathy).  Kerrie is clear and Koufax is an unaffected carrier.  This means the worst that can be produced is an unaffected carrier.  Kerrie is one of very few American and Israeli champion Canaan dogs in the US.  She completed her title in Israel before being shipped to me by her breeder, Myrna Shiboleth of Shaar Hagai kennels, now in Italy.  Koufax was imported from England, bred by Alison Byrne.  His dam is also from Shaar Hagai kennels and his sire is from Chanco kennels in Sweden.  I believe in using the best in my breeding program.  We have pups from previous breedings of these two amazing dogs that are pointed towards their championships.  But more importantly, they are loved and beneficial members of their families.  One of their pups is a service dog for his owner.  Another has learned how to flush Spruce hens from the shrubs, proving that Canaan dogs are extremely versatile and smart.

If you think a Canaan dog is the right addition to your family, please send me an email and let’s talk about these amazing, versatile and intelligent dogs.Koufax in Tucson #2   Kerrie's finishing photo July 2017

Puppy looking for a home

Our last puppy that is still looking for a home. This is LP (Last Puppy), formerly Clapton because we thought he was going to be a cream-colored dog.  Now it looks like he will be a red with sable (black) highlights.  LP is a very sweet and loving little boy, except for cats.  He thinks cats are sneaky, evil critters that must be barked at.  He hasn’t offered to chase one, but he doesn’t trust them.  I’m sure that the way our cats treat him, his mistrust is earned.

If you think a Canaan is the right dog for you, please send us an email and let’s talk.

Puppy update

Here are photos of the puppies at just short of 6 weeks old.  Unfortunately only 4 of the pups survived.  We have 3 boys and 1 girl remaining.  The girl has a new home waiting for her, but the boys are all looking for a home.

Six week old pictures.

I thought I had added these last week after the pictures were taken, but I didn’t. so here they are now.  As you can see, one of them now has an ear up.  And I have given them their puppy names.  These names are assigned according to their markings and will not be their adult names.  This just allows us to talk about a puppy and know which one we are referring to.

Their personalities are starting to show.  And some of them are working hard at trying to convince me that they are the one to be kept.  Our plan is to keep at least one of the girls, and maybe one of the boys.  The rest will be available to either pet or show homes.

If you think one of these babies needs to move to your home, please send me a message on my Facebook page for Mofet Canaan dogs  (https://www.facebook.com/Mofet-Canaan-Dogs-505586089615319/) or send me an email at echecs@wildblue.net.
